Verses on Salvation
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23)
This verse teaches that all people are sinners and fall short of God’s standards.
“God demonstrated his own love towards us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
This verse teaches that God loves us and the way he chose to show us that he loves us was by dying for us.
“The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)
This verse teaches that there is a payment for sin. Just as we earn money when we do chores, so we earn death when we sin.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)
This verse teaches that a sinner does not have to die eternally because of what Jesus did when he died for us. If we believe in him, if we trust him, if we have faith that he can save us, then this verse teaches that God will give us eternal life.
“If you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart, one believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (Romans 10:9-10)
This verse teaches that if we have faith, then we will demonstrate that faith by repenting of our sins, and proclaiming to others that we believe Christ to be our substitute and the only way of salvation. It is one thing to believe in our mind. But this verse teaches we must also believe with our heart, and confess with our mouth.
